Meet Sean
Sean is both the founder and lead instructor for YOURACTUARYTUTORJA (YATJA). His teaching philosophy is to tailor his teaching approach to fit all students. He is aware that not all students learn in the same way, hence it is important to be equipped with a variety of approaches and delivery methods to address problems.

Actuarial Science is a discipline that assesses financial risks in the Insurance and Finance fields using mathematical and statistical methods. The very nature of Sean’s actuarial profession makes it a seamless activity for him to teach math. His expertise in this field allows him to approach student learning from a dynamic perspective.

Sean has 10+ years of tutoring experience that has primarily been focused on preparing students for success on various standardized exams such as CXC, CAPE, SAT, and Actuarial Examinations (P & FM). Coupled with the mission to accomplish his student learning goals, Sean mentors each of his students surrounding their academic and career journeys. He has been a mentor for the Big Brother Big Sister (BBBS) program for the past 6 years with his mentee’s now in their junior year of university at the University of Houston (UOH). 🙂.

Mikhai Sillpatt,
Assistant Instructor

In the pursuit of interest spanning mathematics, science, and the arts, Mikhai Sillpatt has yet to find an honor greater than walking alongside others as they navigate their educational journeys. Whether through academic support, creative collaboration, or mentorship, he believes learning is most meaningful when it is shared.

This commitment to excellence and service was reflected early in his academic life, where he earned
-
Seven (7) Grade I’s (including Mathematics) in CXC
-
Seven (7) Grade I’s (including Pure Mathematics) in CAPE
These accomplishments strengthened his appreciation for discipline and consistency, while reinforcing his desire to use academic success as a means of uplighting others rather than for personal recognition.

Now a student at the University of the West Indies (UWI) , Mona Campus, Mikhai is currently studying pre-medicine, motivated by high hopes of becoming a doctor and serving others through healthcare. His university experiences continues to sharpen his analytical thinking and deepen his appreciation for mathematics and science, skills he regularly applies when leading informal study sessions and supporting peers who face academic challenges.
Alongside his scientific pursuits, Mikhai is also a guitarist, a role that has shaped his creativity, leadership, and emotional awareness. Music has taught him the importance of harmony, discipline, and collaboration , mirroring the values that guide his approach to mentorship and service. Balancing academics, music, and community involvement has strengthened his resilience and time-management skills.
As Mikahi continues his studies at UWI, his purpose remains clear : to share knowledge, inspire confidence and walk with others along their educational journeys , whether through teaching, music, or the future medical practice.
